Without support they can't hold out on their own. Spearmen are also not bad yet not good enough. Against enemy cavalry they will virtualy always loose. Silver Helms are ok-ish but only early game, later they are only effective when constantly cicle charging and are good for hammer and anvil. The main problem is their lack of reliable mid-tier melee units.
